Solutions for Homes :- Solar installations on Rooftop of your Homes

"If I could buy my Home & Car with proper planning and calculations, then I can do same with solar for my Home !"  -- Me

Many homes in India are going solar to have 24×7 power and to save on electricity bills.  Benefit of Solar during night comes from Batteries, which store solar electricity generated during day.

Depending on the electrical load that you wish to run on solar and your budget, you can choose any of the following options for solarizing your house.  Many homeowners who live in metro cities run their houses on On-Grid (Grid-Tie) solar system. This is a battery-less system that consists of grid-tie inverter and solar panels. This system is maintenance-free and helps in saving money on electricity as you generate your own electricity through solar.

On the other hand, Off-Grid solar is the most widely used solar power system by homeowners in India. It is suitable for areas that face frequent power cuts because it lets you save extra solar energy in batteries for use during power cuts.

Equipments being modular in nature, it gives rise to various scenarios and thus to the different types of SOLAR SYSTEMS.  Namely, Off-Grid, On-Grid.  Then Off-Grid with Battery and without battery.  It would be quite ideal to have a fair assessment that why a solar power plant is requried.  This being a power-generating product, would normaly become additional source of power for your home.  Thus, even if you dont need additional power, the same Solar Power would become FIRST CHOICE for your home's-electrical-systems, and that will be done intelligently and automatically by the Solar Inverter.  No attention needed !

In my experience, I would say that there are only two things which you should bother about, and rest should be left upto the REPORTS from the Site Inspection/Survey.  There are various other factors that decide the type of Solar Plant which is best suitable for the home; and also the maximum capacity possible.

That two things are Space Available, and the Budget Allowed.  Normally, 100 Sq Ft of Rooftop area is required for 1KW of power plant.  So, if you have maximum of 1200 Sq Ft, then roughly we can say that 12KW (maximum) can be installed.  And, on the budget side, with INR 50000/- one can install 1KW of plant without battery.  Solar battery is preffered when the Solar System generates excess of electricity, and there is Power Cuts very frequently.

Subsidy in Solar Rooftop system

Cabinet approves Phase-II of Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Programme for achieving cumulative capacity of 40,000 MW from Rooftop Solar Projects by the year 2022.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval for the Phase-II of Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Programme for achieving cumulative capacity of 40,000 MW from Rooftop Solar (RTS) Projects by the year 2022.

The programme will be implemented with total central financial support of Rs.11,814 crore.

In the Phase-II Programme Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for the residential sector has been restructured with availability of 40% CFA for RTS systems up to 3 kW capacity and 20% for RTS system capacity beyond 3 kW and up to 10 kW.

For Group Housing Societies/Residential Welfare Associations (GHS/RAW), CFA will be limited to 20% for RTS plants for supply of power to common facilities, however, the capacity eligible for CFA for GHS/RAW will be limited to 10 kW per house with maximum total capacity upto 500 kWp, inclusive of RTS put in individual houses in the GHS/RWA.

CFA under residential category will be provided for 4000 MW capacity and the same will be provided on the basis of benchmark cost or tender cost, which is lower.

Central financial support will not be available for other category i.e., institutional, educational, social, government, commercial, industrial, etc.

Reccomendations :-

Our reccomendation based on our experience and market research, is to do the project under expert guidance.  Subsidy or no-subsidy should not be the only choice of selecting the installer.  Solar installation comes with warranty on many devices, wires, mechanical structure, etc.  And it is different for each.  Choose wisely.

Electrical equipments used in Solar Power Plant are quite modular in nature.
